Not at all. Every experienced student at Renegade Roots started with their first class. Our coaches teach the fundamentals step by step, helping you build confidence and technique at a pace that feels comfortable. You don’t need any martial arts experience to get started—just a willingness to learn.
Absolutely. Most students train because they enjoy learning Muay Thai, improving their fitness, relieving stress, and developing a skill they’ll continue building over time. Competition is available for those who choose that path, but it’s never expected or required.
Two or three classes each week is a great place to start and gives you enough time to develop your skills while building a consistent routine. As your confidence grows, you can always increase your training based on your goals and schedule.
Comfortable athletic clothing is all you need for your first visit. If you don’t have gloves or other equipment yet, we’ll help you get started and answer any questions about what you’ll need as you continue training.
Everyone learns at a different pace, but most students begin feeling more comfortable after only a few classes. As you become familiar with the coaches, the structure of each session, and the basic techniques, your confidence grows naturally and you’ll begin noticing improvements both on and off the mats.
