FAQs
No experience is required to start training Muay Thai with us. Our beginner‑friendly classes are designed for people who have never done martial arts before, with coaches focusing on fundamentals, safety, and clear instruction so first‑timers feel comfortable on day one.
2. Do I need to be in shape before joining a Muay Thai class?
You don’t have to be in peak shape to begin Muay Thai in Atlanta. We scale drills for all fitness levels, and consistent training will build your conditioning, strength, and mobility over time. Our Muay Thai Fundmentals and Fitness Class is built spefically for people new to Muay Thai and want to start building a physical fitness foundation for the more advanced classes.
3. Am I too old to start Muay Thai training?
Adults of all ages train Muay Thai at our Atlanta gym. As long as you are medically cleared to exercise, we adjust intensity based on your experience and goals, whether you’re training for fitness, self‑defense, or competition.
4. What should I wear to Muay Thai class?
Wear athletic clothing you can move in—shorts or leggings and a t‑shirt—and avoid metal zippers or jewelry that can scratch you, training partners, or equipment. Bare feet are standard on the mats in our Atlanta Muay Thai gym.
5. What gear do I need as a beginner?
New Muay Thai students in Atlanta generally start with hand wraps and gloves. As you progress into contact drills, you’ll add shin guards, a mouthguard, and optionally groin protection and headgear for sparring.
6. Do you provide Muay Thai gear, or should I bring my own?
Our Quick Start Packages provide everything you need, hand wraps and gloves. Our regular members typically invest in their own Muay Thai gear for hygiene, personalization, comfort, and safety. We can recommend glove sizes, brands, and shin guards that work well for Atlanta’s training climate.

How do I cancel my gym membership? You can cancel your membership at any time by sending us a written notice via email to info@renegade-roots.com. Verbal requests (like telling a staff member) or messages through social media/DM do not count as official notice.
What is the cancellation notice period? Most memberships require 30 days’ written notice to cancel (unless your specific agreement states otherwise). This is a standard 30-day window starting from the date we receive your email.
Will I still be billed after I send the cancellation request? Yes — requesting to cancel does NOT stop your next scheduled payment(s). Any regular payments (monthly dues, etc.) that are already scheduled to process within those 30 days will still be charged. This includes:
- If you send notice with only 1–2 days left in your current billing cycle → You’ll still pay for the full next month.
- The 30-day notice gives us time to process your request properly and ensures your account closes cleanly at the end of the notice period.
Example:
- Your billing date is the 1st of each month.
- You email us on January 20th to cancel.
- Your membership will continue (and you’ll be billed) through February 19th (30 days from January 20th).
- Any payment scheduled in that window (e.g., February 1st) will process normally.
Can I cancel my membership while it’s on Hold? No — you cannot cancel while your membership is on hold. To cancel, first request to end the hold. Once your membership is active again, submit your cancellation notice (via email) as usual. The 30-day notice period starts only when we receive your cancellation request while your account is active—not during the hold.
Why do we have a 30-day notice period? This is outlined in your membership agreement and helps us manage staffing, scheduling, and billing fairly for everyone.
What happens after the 30 days? Your membership ends at the conclusion of the 30-day notice period. No further charges will occur after that date (unless there are any outstanding fees or other terms in your agreement).
How will I know my cancellation is confirmed? We’ll send you a confirmation email once we process your request. If you don’t receive one within a few business days, please follow up.
