The owner, Catherine, truly sets the tone. Her explicit reassurance that participation in sparring is entirely optional immediately put me at ease and highlights the inclusive nature of the gym. I’ve had the pleasure of training with Catherine, Marshal, and Steven, and each instructor has been exceptionally professional and demonstrates a deep understanding of both Muay Thai and effective teaching methods. I’m genuinely excited to learn and grow in this supportive and encouraging environment.
Having experience with muay thai, I was nervous about this new gym, but after 1 session, I decided to sign up. The culture here is amazing. I think the owners are great people who chose great coaches. The coaches made me feel safe to train (no crazy sparring) and I learned new things about my style which speaks to the high level of the coaches’ experience (new gym but not “brand new” coaches which was my fear). I also watched the way they interacted with students new to muay thai (all ages) and they were encouraging and supportive. All around this community feels like a place where you can socialize and learn about the sport as a beginner, but also if you’re experienced and you want to increase the intensity, the coaches are knowledgeable enough to match that energy and push you beyond your limits.
I started my Muay Thai journey 2.5 years ago, and reached a plateau somewhere within the last year. In just a month at Renegade, I have cleared that plateau and don’t see myself slowing down any time soon.
